Traditional security training methods often struggle to replicate the dynamic and unpredictable nature of large-scale events like music festivals. SAFE-FESTIVALS proposes an innovative solution: a training platform supporting VR that creates immersive and interactive simulations, first of all, for security personnel and for events’ security managers.
The platform allows officers to see virtual crowds overlaid onto the real environment. These crowds can be customized with varying densities and movement patterns, mimicking real-world scenarios. Simulated threat actors like firing or potential attackers can also be strategically placed within the scenario, helping officers train on threat identification and response protocols.
The plartform doesn’t stop there. Trainers can design and manage diverse event scenarios, including crowd sizes, types of threats, and even the progression of the event itself, adding urban furniture and security elements. This allows officers to experience the challenges of security management throughout the entire festival, from pre-show gatherings to peak performance hours. Furthermore, the platform supports VR and multi-user functionality, enabling security teams to train in a simulated environment – a critical element for effective on-site response.
By implementing this innovative solution, SAFE-FESTIVALS aims at significantly enhancing the preparedness and overall security effectiveness at music festivals and large-scale events.
